Taq Antibody is a monoclonal antibody that binds Taq polymeraseand inhibits itsactivity untilreaction temperature is elevated. At that point, the Taq Antibody is denaturedand releases its hold on Taq polymerase, allowing DNA synthesis to proceed. The binding of the Taq Antibody to Taq polymerase is the premise of hot-start PCR.

Bypreventing Taq polymerase activity until the denaturation step of PCR is underway, nonspecific amplification due to mispriming and/or formation of primer dimers during PCR assembly is prevented. As a result, experimentalbackground is significantly decreased, and reactionspecificityis increased.
Taq Antibody can be added to Takara Taq, Takara Ex Taq, or Takara LA Taq polymerasebefore PCRto lower background, increase specificity, and allow room temperature reaction assembly.
